Georgia Southern University

One of our Texas Tech graduate students, Mandy Baker, recently travelled to Georgia Southern University as part of a national project she and colleagues are working on. While there, Mandy was kind enough to take some pictures for the blog, persisting even in rainy weather. Three major elements of the campus appear to be trees, trails, and brick buildings, including the modern recreation center (upper right).


Below are three different perspectives on the entrance to campus, with a long pathway leading up to the Administration Building.


Mandy described the university as having a Georgia "low country landscape." I wasn't familiar with the term "low country," so I did some searching and came up with a Wikipedia entry entitled "South Carolina Lowcountry." Low country refers to the region being at or below sea level, and southern Georgia would not be too far from South Carolina.
